Surgeons saved this 15 year old patient’s hand!!
đŸ¤” What Happened: This teenager was swinging on a rope into a lake when the rope got caught around his palm and injured the arteries nerves, bones and tendons. All were repaired.
The steps involved in repair included examination of the neurovascular structures, bone fixation, tendon and muscle repair followed by microsurgical artery, nerve and vein repair, and finally skin closure.

The plastic surgeon used K Wires because of the patients age and he was in lake water which is high risk of infection.
Remember kids, watch out for lake water infections. There’s a lot of nasty stuff in those stagnant ponds.
Also remember, plastic surgery is not only about cosmetic beauty but it’s also about saving people’s lives.
